With over 40 years of combined gynecological expertise, we understand that hormonal transitions require more than a typical 15-minute appointment.
Beth (Mary Elizabeth) Safrit, NP
Beth has dedicated her 30-year career to advancing women’s health. As a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) for the past 25 years, she has worked coast to coast, collaborating with Planned Parenthood, fertility clinics, and general gynecology practices. Before becoming a WHNP, Beth spent five years as a Labor and Delivery nurse, practicing in diverse locations such as the coastal islands of Georgia, the Caribbean, and the Bay Area—a region she instantly fell in love with.
Beth earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from UNC Chapel Hill in 1994 and her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Vanderbilt University in 1999. Her unwavering passion for women’s health has driven her to focus on this area throughout her career. Over the years, she has witnessed the unique challenges women face, particularly during midlife, when adequate care is often lacking. Inspired to make a difference, Beth partnered with a longtime colleague to launch Balance – Women’s Health and Wellness of Marin, a boutique-style practice designed to provide personalized, exceptional care for women.
Beth’s personal life is as fulfilling as her professional one. She has been happily married to her supportive husband for over 20 years and is the proud mother of two teenage daughters. In her free time, you’ll often find her on the tennis courts at Mill Valley Tennis Club, enjoying the sport she loves.
Susannah Ewing, NP
Susannah graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 2002 with a BSN, MSN as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Susannah started her career at Planned Parenthood. She then worked in private practice as a urogynecology NP, providing bladder care to women in a large urology practice in Marin. For the past 20 years she has been practicing full spectrum gynecology at University of California San Francisco, caring for women of all ages. She has provided perimenopause and menopause care to women throughout her career and witnessed this specialty care gain momentum and support. During the pandemic, Susannah worked for a start up company that provided telehealth menopause care. While the start up did not last, it highlighted the need for this type of focused care for women.
“It is really women, themselves, who have stood up, made noise and demanded better mid-life care“. There is so much more data and social discussion about peri and menopause and yet there is a declining amount of time available in the average medical visit to adequately address the issues women need to discuss. “At age 54, maintaining my health and quality of life is as important to me as it is to my patients!”.
When not working, Susannah enjoys trail running, time with her 2 teenage children, and East Coast travels. “My passion in life is helping women of all ages feel better and live healthier!”
